Sue Bhatia

INTRODUCTION

Himanshu “Sue” Bhatia was born in New Delhi, India. She started her career as an architect, graduating with a degree from the prestigious School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi. She immigrated to America in the 1980’s with $50 in her pocket. She received her Master’s in Information Systems and worked as a systems analyst until she quit her job in 1993 and launched Rose International. She started Rose in her unfinished basement, with one desk and a phone.

Rose International is an influential leader in the staffing industry, delivering the best contingent talent solutions and innovative end-to-end technology services to commercial organizations and government agencies in the United States and abroad. Under Sue Bhatia's leadership, Rose International has become the largest woman-owned business in St. Louis, Missouri. Sue Bhatia’s business philosophy is forward-thinking-- she is committed to innovation and constantly looks for ways to leverage new technology and cutting-edge business practices to better serve the diverse set of Rose clients. In the last two years, Rose International hired over 20,000 people. As of 2019, Rose is #24 on the Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of Largest IT Staffing Firms in the US.

Sue Bhatia fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace while maintaining rapid growth for her company. The Women Presidents' Association (WPO) named Rose International as one of the 50 Fastest Growing Women-Owned Companies in North America. 40% of all Rose International employees are minorities. Glassdoor recently named Rose as the only staffing agency on the 2019 Best Places to Work list, and the San Francisco Business Times recognized Rose as a top company for supplier diversity in the Bay Area. Sue Bhatia’s work developing Rose International into the dominant business it is today earned her the 2019 Trailblazer Award from the WBE Hall of Fame. Sue Bhatia has also received the U.S. Small Business Administration's National Entrepreneurial Success Award, and the Missouri Small Business Person of the Year award. She was inducted into the SIA Staffing 100 Hall of Fame in 2017.

Sue Bhatia also works as an advocate for women and people of color. She has spoken about adaptability and female empowerment at conferences all over the world including the World Export Development Forum (WEDF) twice, in both China and Switzerland. Sue has been a guest on many podcasts including Women Worldwide and The Small Business Radio Show. Sue Bhatia was the first female minority business owner to serve on the National Minority Supplier Development Council’s (NMSDC) board of directors. Additionally, she was ranked 13th on Fast Company’s list of the Top 25 Women Business Builders in North America.

She is passionate about promoting minority female entrepreneurs by providing guidance to other minority-owned businesses. She previously served on WBENC’s Board of Directors for her deep commitment to breaking down barriers for women in business, and is a WBENC “Woman of Distinction.” Sue enjoys giving back to her community. She is a patron to Akshaya Patra and Mango Tree Trust, charities for disadvantaged children in India. When she is not busy running Rose International, Sue enjoys hiking in the mountains, working in her garden, and spending time with her husband, two children and her dog.
