• This is with Mercy Physicians Medical Group
• Need someone that is very familiar with Referrals and Authorizations for HMOs. Candidate should be familiar with HMO’s both Commercial and Medicare Advantage line of business. We only deal with HMO plans.

Specific Duties:
1. Verifies eligibility and benefits for each referral
2. Process incoming on-line referrals, Inputs all non-on-line referral requests into computer and generates hard copy.
3. Provides referral and authorization to internal or external providers
4. Communicates authorization status to patients
5. Completes various UM tracking and error reports,
6. Provides information required for denial letters to clerical staff for patients whose benefits do not cover requested services
7. Inputs ICD10 codes, HCPCS and CPT codes in computer for referral
8. Prepares assigned correspondence and reports and compiles statistical data as directed
9. Tracks all types of references on computer system on hard copy log and compiles statistics monthly
10. Maintains good attendance
11. Represents department / group and organization in a professional and positive manner
12. Supports and facilitates teamwork within the department / group and the organization
13. Participates in scheduled departmental / group meetings
14. Assists on all UM Functions/Duties as assigned

Must have qualifications/experience:
1. High school graduate or G.E.D.
2. Medical Terminology Certificate
3. One year experience in the medical field, either in a hospital, clinic/physician office, clinical or insurance setting that includes experience with computers.
4. Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
5. Type 60 plus words per minute
6. Demonstrates initiative
7. Demonstrates excellence and high quality in performing responsibilities
