Application Developer

- Provides application software development services primarily focused on continuous integration / continuous deployment pipelines in gitlab. Can leverage typical plugins (e.g. SOnarQube) as well as customer written code for pipelines to deliver high quality releases. Is familiar with LocalStack AWS library and WireMock or Pact.io tools or similar.
- Primary activity is creating, modifying, or updating configuration code to leverage new pipeline capabilities, and occasionally modify service code to bring it up to date with current requirements.
- Analyzes and modifies logic in existing applications. Codes, tests, debugs, documents, implements, and maintains software applications. Analyzes requirements, and maintains, tests and integrates application components. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented. Usually requires at least 15 years of previous experience.

The work is fairly tightly scoped, it's a 6 month engagement, and the work is to update all the pipelines for our services to enable Testing in Production. The services are written in a variety of languages, primarily Scala, Java, and Clojure. We have some homegrown services that we're replacing with off-the-shelf offerings (like, why do we have our own log storage and management mechanism?).

This role would be to inspect the service code and ensure that it has all the necessary elements that will make it possible to operate effectively, such as: latest docker images and base libraries, correct config of logging and metrics libs, and so on. Primarily we'd be creating mocks from swagger or OAS definitions, and augmenting these mocks where needed. The second most important thing is managing the test data associated with the tests. All of this needs to work seamlessly in production in parallel with real production traffic, but completely separated.
