Title: Safety Tech / ESH



An ESH Technician position located in a warehouse/Seed Processing operation.
Performs basic technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the organization’s ES&H standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements.
Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of programs, systems and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community.
Participates with senior safety personnel in monitoring and controlling the organization's safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State codes and regulations.
Participates in evaluating new equipment and materials for safety. Monitors employee exposure to chemicals and other toxic substances.
Assists in investigating accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the work place.
Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment, to minimize the hazardous potential.
Conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and quality assurance programs.
Assists others in performing surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with the organization's policies, procedures, regulations and standards related to employee safety.
Assists with testing and servicing safety equipment and systems.
May assist with maintaining monitoring, sampling and analytical equipment and instruments related to safety programs.
Documents non-compliance or hazardous conditions found and the remedial action taken.
May maintain storage areas, consumable supply inventories, and personal protective equipment.
Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, radiation, or fire and smoke incidents in the facility.
Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Maintains working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies.
May provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel. Responsible to prepare and implement a site level ESH management system.
Conducts general awareness training to site management and regional ESH Generalist on the ESH Management process.
Provides technical and functional support with ESH management forms, tools, and procedures. Establishes and implements these core ESH management programs: risk assessment, regulatory compliance calendar, internal audit, corrective & preventive actions, and management review.
Reviews and comprehends ESH Level 1 and Level 2 management system documentation, programs, and procedures. Provides solutions and recognize gaps in the early stages of implementation of an ESH and management system and takes proper preventive action.
Performs surveillance assessments of ESH management system after the initial implementation. Excellent communication and computer skills, strong project management and implementation skills required, extensive work experience involving ISO 9000, 14000, or OSHAS 18000 standards.
Ph.D. in Safety or Environmental Engineering or related fields and up to 1 year experience; or M.S. and 1 to 3 years’ experience; or B.S. and 3 to 5 years’ experience. Certifications preferred.

In addition to these duties a successful candidate would also manage monthly site safety meetings, off the job safety program, daily Safety take 5's and handle all vendor tours for HSC.

· Knowledge of seed processing/handling equipment and procedures
· Proficiency in data management, analysis, and visualization software
· Specific experience and application of process improvement principles

· ESH logistics warehouse experience.
