Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Lake Forest, CA
Duration:15 months+

• This position works in a collaborative team environment design and developing innovative solutions for cutting edge ophthalmic surgical equipment.
• Conducts process research, process development and process upscaling for new medical device products.
• Investigates and evaluates existing technology and designs new methodology, materials, machines or processes as needed for medical device development.

Major Accountabilities:
• Responsible for leading, participating in or supporting the product development activities such as prototyping/testing, pilot builds, verification & validation testing, risk assessment and production tooling validation.
• Generate detailed fabrication drawings, appropriate product requirements and technical file documents and lead design reviews.
• Responsible for the design and development of mechanical components, systems, and products using PTC Creo.
• Generate detailed fabrication drawings with familiarity of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Must possess fundamental, theoretical and applied knowledge related to general mechanical and/or fluidics engineering.
• Works with cross-functional teams including EE, SW, QA, and Mfg.
• Applies intermediate level principles of engineering analysis to blend technical knowledge and manufacturing practices in providing solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Ensures regulatory / statutory / legislative compliance for all project work.

• Proficiency with 3-D CAD (PTC Creo )
• Ability to take responsibility for multiple concurrent design activities.
• Experience in Injection Molding of plastics and silicone rubber and plastics joining methods (Ultrasonic welding, Laser welding, etc.) is a plus.
• Working proficiency in design and development of fluidics based systems and multi-physics mechanisms is desirable.
• Labview or Matlab experience is a plus.
• Experience in medical device is preferred.
• Excellent process management and problem solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are required.

• Education: Education
• BS Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and 6-8 years directly related experience.
• MS 4-6 years of experience.
