Facility Infection Control Nurse Specialist
Duration: Dec 2020 with likely extension to May 2021
Location: Remote (must have reliable equipment such as computer, headset, and internet connection)

Nurse Duties:
• Nurses must be qualified to provide technical assistance to strengthen the infection prevention knowledge and practice within healthcare facilities and systems.
• Nurses will be required to facilitate virtual Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) assessments, review infection control policies and procedures, identify and mitigate identified gaps through on-going training and technical assistance to long -term care facilities, acute care hospitals, ambulatory clinics, hemodialysis centers, and long-term acute care hospitals.
• Nurses will be required to assess and evaluate COVID-19 prevention practices in other congregate care settings such as assisted living, licensed home care, and group homes.
• Nurses will be required to assess infrastructure and capacity of facilities and their settings for optimum patient or resident care in preventing transmission of COVID-19 infections along with other multi-drug resistant organisms and serious emerging infectious diseases.
• Nurses will collaborate with regional stakeholders to plan and implement the CDC Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) 101 curriculum for local public health.

Qualification Requirements for Nurse:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and 2 years’ experience as a public health nurse, public health school nurse, public health nurse educator or equivalent public health experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse or professional nursing experience.
• Three years of experience in the clinical and epidemiologic aspects of infectious diseases, including infection prevention and control best practices, modes of transmission, and factors affecting disease transmission, prevention, and treatment.
• Nurses must have experience with infection control.
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred, but not mandatory requirement.
