Business Problem
Every credit card transaction processed is analyzed by fraud protection software to determine if that transaction is at risk. The faster the response time of the fraud detection software, the greater the opportunity is to prevent fraud from occurring. The customer had been experiencing over a 3.5 hour response time for each card holder transaction to determine the possibility of fraud. The customer invested over one year of analysis with the authoring software vendor and other performance experts to try to reduce the response time. This was a very frustrating, and extended the period of time for this customer to experience such unacceptable delays in response time for credit card fraud detection.

Rose Value Proposition
Rose proposed the utilization of our proven Database Performance Optimization Practice (DPOP) to analyze and resolve the problem. The analysis would allow Rose to identify opportunities for performance improvement and to quickly focus on problematic areas. Previous vendor analysis had focused on database I/O workload distribution and performance, while the Rose approach included a focus on eliminating I/O.

Results
After just one day, the Rose DPOP team reduced the 3.5 hour elapsed time down to just 20 seconds. This was surreal for the customer on two fronts; first because of the massive reduction of elapsed time (3.5 hours to 20 seconds), and secondly because the DPOP service provided this value in just one day after previous vendors had worked on the problem for over a year.
